The fabulous Nicki Minaj is gracing ELLE's July 2018 cover and to say that she looks incredible on it would be an absolute understatement. But, not only does the Queen rapper serve looks on the cover, but her interview for the mag is equally as exciting.
Minaj discussed a number of different topics with the women's publication. From talking about her music, being single for the first time in a long time, Meek Mill and more; the rapper shared a lot about her personal life. This was refreshing to read considering the fact that it wasn't that long ago that Minaj came back into our lives when she released the "Chun-Li" and "Barbie Tingz" singles after going ghost on social media for months.
When the recording artist discussed her single life -- Minaj last broke up with Nas a few months ago -- she said: “It’s the first time in my life I’ve ever been single. I remember feeling like I could do anything at one time in my life and somewhere along the line, I just started second guessing myself for whatever reason.” As many of us already know, prior to Nas, Minaj dated Meek and Safaree Samuels.
The rapper continued: “Becoming single was one of the things that made me feel strong and powerful. The fact that I am a young woman who doesn’t need a man for money. I don’t need a man for a job. I’ve never had to f—k for beats. I’ve never had to f—k for a record deal. I don’t have those pressures. I get up when I want, shop when I want.”
Minaj also took some time to discuss Meek and his legal woes with Judge Genece Brinkley. The "Rich Sex" rapper recalled meeting with the judge once on Meek's behalf. “I know that when I went there pleading for his freedom, I know that she... spoke to me and was very sweet and maternal, and we both cried in her chambers, and she gave him another chance,” Minaj said. These words paint a different picture of the judge than Meek's team paints, which claims that Judge Brinkley has been very disrespectful and unprofessional to the rapper, as she presides over his case.
