HQ Trivia, Vine Co-Founder Colin Kroll Dead At 35

CEO and HQ Trivia co-founder Colin Kroll died of a suspected drug overdose at 35, TMZ learned over the weekend.

Kroll was discovered dead inside his apartment in downtown Manhattan early Sunday (December 16) following a wellness check prompted by his girlfriend who said she could not get in contact with him. Per the celebrity gossip outlet, law officials entered the residence to find the businessman's body in the bedroom of his unit, surrounded by drug paraphernalia.

According to CNN, he was unconscious and unresponsive and pronounced dead on the scene.

A spokesperson for the gaming app which Kroll founded released the following e-mailed statement in light of his passing: "We learned today of the passing of our friend and founder, Colin Kroll, and it's with deep sadness that we say goodbye. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time."

A well-known figure in the tech community, Kroll co-discovered the once-popular looping video app Vine, a platform that rose several social media stars like Logan Paul, Nash Grier, and Cameron Dallas to fame.

Kroll became CEO of HQ Trivia in 2015 following the exit of former business partner Rus Yusupov. His real-time trivia game app, which released to breakout success in 2017, has since struggled, as its backing company Intermedia Labs has struggled to maintain an audience.

Prior to assuming CEO, Kroll was let go at Twitter after he was found to be a "bad manager." Additionally, it had been alleged the mastermind engaged in improper business conduct with female staff.

Rest in Peace.
