Ariana Grande To Headline Lollapalooza 2019: Report

Ariana Grande may have scored yet another headlining gig. This time: Lollapalooza.

On Monday (January 14), it was revealed via multiple reports to Variety that the pop star has been booked to headline the annual music festival, kicking off in Chicago's Grant Park on August 1-4. As the site warrants, however, the news arrived at an unusual time, as Lolla's lineup typically isn't unveiled until mid-March, so it may be months before an official statement for the "Light Is Coming" singer's purported gig appears in headlines.

The article appeared the same day the 26-year-old stepped as headliner of this year's 20th anniversary of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, replacing Kanye West after his last-minute dropout.

But why was Grande announced to lead two major music performances on the same day?

There's no funny business about it, really.

As Variety explained, sources told the outlet the "Sweetener" star had been in talks to headline with Lolla organizers for "several months" before she was offered the opportunity for the California fest, which, as aforementioned, only came to fruition after West's resignation over unmet staging demands.

Even with the music fests ahead, Grande still has a lot of anticipation leading up to her "Sweetener World Tour," set to open at New York's Times Union Center on March 18. As previously reported, the singer's Coachella showcase caused her to make accommodations for her global jaunt, originally rounding out on June 26, by adding seven more shows through to July 13.
