Our 'Wicked' Dream Cast

Wicked, the hit Broadway musical is one of the many musicals to transition from the stage to the big screen. The film is set to hit movie theatres on December 22nd, 2021, and will be directed by Stephen Daldry. We absolutely cannot WAIT for this movie to hit the big screen, but in the meantime, weā€™ve been wondering, who will be cast in these iconic roles?! Looking forward to 2021, and the casting announcements that are no doubt in our future, we decided to take a crack at casting it ourselves. Below weā€™re offering 4 artists for each leading role that we think would be awesome. Maybe, justttttt maybe Universal will agree with some of our favorite picks! Scroll down to see who weā€™d want in our Wicked dream cast.

1. Elphaba- Ariana Grande, Jessie J, Lady Gaga, BeyoncƩ

Ariana Grande: Ari not only has a killer voice, but she also has tons of experience with musicals. She got her start in 13 on Broadway, played Penny in Hairspray Live! , and even sang ā€œThe Wizard And Iā€ for Wickedā€™s 15th Anniversary last year.

Jessie J: Elphaba needs a powerful voice, and Jessie J has that, and some.

Lady Gaga: Just coming off of A Star Is Born , fans would be dying to see Gaga in another musical movie, especially as such an interesting, powerful female lead.

BeyoncĆ©: ā€œDefying Gravityā€ with BeyoncĆ©ā€™s killer belt and R&B twist is everything we never knew we needed.

2. Galinda- Kacey Musgraves, Taylor Swift, Dove Cameron, Camila Cabello

Kacey Musgraves: If you have any doubt, just take a look at Spacey Kaceyā€™s instagram feed which is filled with pink, sparkles, rainbows, and butterflies. Kacey Musgraves is the Galinda of the country world.

Taylor Swift: TSwift has the perfect look for this role, plus sheā€™s super bubbly!

Dove Cameron: Dove Cameron is the picture-perfect ingenue, plus she totally nailed her role as Amber in Hairspray Live! Many an Amber went on to play Galinda on Broadway, and film could follow the same rule.

Camila Cabello: HOW CUTE would Camila be singing popular? She has all the right energy to play Galinda with a bit of adorable quirk, and a hint of sass.

3. Fiyero- Zac Efron, Harry Styles, Shawn Mendes, Zayn Malik

Zac Efron: We know him and love him from High School Musical, so it seems only fair that heā€™d grace us with his presence in another musical movie. His charm and vocal chops would be perfect for this role.

Harry Styles: Harry Styles would totally fit in with his quirky style in Oz.

Shawn Mendes: That smile is all we need to convince us that heā€™d be perfect as Fiyero.

Zayn Malik: Zayn has the Fiyero smolder down, and he would definitely nail the brooding moodiness that Fiyero takes on in the second half of the show.

4. Nessa- Ingrid Michaelson, Lorde, Selena Gomez, H.E.R. aka Gabi Wilson

Ingrid Michaelson: Nessa is soft spoken, but has some powerful vocal lines. Ingrid Michaelson could handle both of those vocal needs, and sheā€™s already tried her turn in musicals in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812.

Lorde: Lorde is soft spoken, but definitely has a power to her just like Nessa.

Selena Gomez: Selena is one of the sweetest stars out there, and sheā€™d totally nail Nessaā€™s innocence.

H.E.R.: Gabi Wilson finds the perfect balance between strength and softness in her voice. That, combined with her sweet, youthful energy, and her reserved nature would make her a great Nessa.

5. The Wizard

Cardi B: YAS we are here for this gender bending! Cardi B rapping some of these lyrics would be incredible.

Bruno Mars: Bruno Mars is known to be a showman, and the Wizard is the master of smoke and mirrors. Bruno would also high key wear the Wizardā€™s costume without being cast.

John Legend: Of course, John Legend would bring some dynamite charisma and vocals to this role. Plus, he has experience in musicals, having played Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Rihanna: Rihanna would serve all of the mystery and mystique of this character.

6. Drake

Dr. Dillamond is a goat, Drake is the GOAT. Enough said.

7. Madame Morrible- Adele, Nicki Minaj, Cher, P!nk

Adele: Honestly, Adele wouldnā€™t get to show off all her vocal chops for this role, but she does have a quirky, sassy humor that would be great in this part.

Nicki Minaj: Madame Morrible is the shadiest character in the show, plus we can totally see Nicki rocking that wig.

Cher: Cher just lent her talent to Mamma Mia 2, so she would be perfect to slot into this role.

P!nk: P!nk is known to be rebellious and powerful. Sheā€™d bring the vocal prowess, and the demanding stage presence that this role requires.

8. Boq- Darren Criss, Luke Hemmings, Daniel Radcliffe, Niall Horan

Darren Criss: Darren Criss was the sweetheart of Glee. With that sweet smile and curly hair, heā€™d be the perfect Boq.

Luke Hemmings: 5SOS fans, we got you. Luke is funny and perfectly endearing for this role.

Daniel Radcliffe: Daniel Radcliffe is another star who is no stranger to musicals, having played the lead in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Heā€™s got all the pure energy and acting chops to play Boq.

Niall Horan: Niall is one of the most adorable artists out there, so he had to make the list for our pick for Boq.
