#ArkansasStrong: How You Can Help Arkansas Tornado Victims

We've all been scrolling through our newsfeed seeing the damage and devastation. Wondering how you can help? Here's a list of central Arkansas nonprofits:

And these area locations are accepting donations:

  • Boys & Girls Club of Bryant: accepting water, nonperishable food items, etc.
  • Steve Landers Toyota: accepting donations of toiletries, baby items, tarps and plastic totes
  • Arvest Bank: accepting donations of bottled water, juice boxes, blankets, first aid items, safety goggles, gloves, tarps, and cleaning products
  • LR Fire Dept (7000 Murray St., LR) accepting donations of water and nonperishable food items
  • Better Business Bureau: accepting nonperishable food items and toiletries
  • Marriott Courtyard Hotel: Accepting nonperishable food items and water
  • NLR 1st Assembly: accepting water, blankets, contractor bags, tarps, and toiletries
  • Steve Landers Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep: accepting donations of toiletries, baby items, tarps and plastic totes
  • Central Church of Christ Little Rock: accepting donations of tarps, bottled water, work gloves, and flashlights

Simmons Bank Arena is working with the Arkansas Foodbank and asking everyone attending the Harlem Globetrotters game this Friday, 4/7 and The O’Jays with The Spinners on Saturday, 4/8, to bring a non perishable food item to donate upon entry.

The Red Cross has also opened a shelter in Little Rock at Calvary Baptist Church (5700 Cantrell Road).

10 Fitness is offering free hot showers, hot coffee, and phone charging stations at their locations in Maumelle, Cabot, Bryant, on JFK in North Little Rock, and on Rodney Parham and on University in Little Rock.

The City of North Little Rock has opened a community shelter at 2700 Willow Street that is open to those impacted by the storms, as well as their pets.

The Central Arkansas Library System is reminding local residents about the variety of free services always available and new services that have been added that could be beneficial to individuals as they recover from the tornadoes that happened on March 31. Until further notice, all faxing, scanning, and printing can be done free of charge. Additional services and items include:

• water bottle filling stations

• charging stations

• notary services

• access to computers, printers, and wifi

• access to meeting spaces

• assistance from Digital Literacy Guides

• meals and snacks through Be Mighty

• shelf-stable foods and personal hygiene items through the Little Free Pantries

Through Be Mighty, CALS offers access to meals and snacks at designated times, while Free Little Pantries can be found at 10 branches for pickup during regular business hours. Beyond that, CALS has a Community Resources team (located at Main Library, 100 Rock St.) that is available to offer assistance and connect residents with a network of resources.

Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield is helping those in need of emergency medication, or who may need emotional support. For more information on that, you can click here. 

The following locations are providing supplies for people in need including water, food, clean-up supplies, and tarps: 

North Little Rock:

  • Levy Baptist Church ( 3501 Pike Avenue)

Sherwood:

  • Sherwood City Hall (2199 E Kiehl Avenue) is offering clean-up supplies, tarps, and lumber. 
  • Sherwood Police Department (2201 E Kiehl Avenue) is offering food and water.
  • Sherwood Senior Citizens Center (2301 Thornhill Drive) is offering shelter, food, and water.

Jacksonville:

  • Tarps are being offered at the 1000 block of School Drive.
  • 100 block of Victory Circle
  • Convoy of Hope (320 S Oak Street) is offering translators, food, and tarps.
  • First Baptist Church (401 N 1st Street)

Wynne:

  • Wynne Junior High, 849 Eldridge Ave, Wynne, AR 72396.
  • Wynne Assembly of God Church, 1900 North Killough Rd, Wynne 72396.

Tide Cleaners locations in Little Rock are providing free laundry services to those affected by the tornadoes. Guests can drop off one bag per week per family (10-13lbs) at 16301 Chenal Parkway or 1211 Cantrell Rd Suite 100 during their normal operating hours to have cleaned and returned for free!

Those looking to make a donation to the Little Rock Disaster Relief fund, please click here. People looking to volunteer in NLR can go to Edwards Food Saver on Camp Robinson every morning at 7:00 a.m.

According to FEMA, residents whose homes or businesses were damaged can apply for assistance here or by calling (800) 621-FEMA.
