Eric Dane is opening up about his major health battle.

The Grey's Anatomy actor will speak with Good Morning America on Monday (June 16) for his first sit-down interview since revealing his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis earlier this year. In a preview for an emotional interview published Thursday (June 12), Dane tearfully shared with Diane Sawyer what life has been like following his diagnosis, per People.

"I wake up every day and I'm immediately reminded that this is happening," he said. "It's not a dream."

He added, "I don't think this is the end of my story. I don't feel like this is the end of me."

According to the ALS Association, ALS is a progressive, neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord and causes individuals to gradually lose muscle control, including "the ability to speak, eat, move and breathe."

In April, Dane revealed he had been diagnosed with the rare, incurable disease in an interview with People, saying at the time, "I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter." Dane has been married to wife Rebecca Gayheart since 2004, though they separated in 2018. As of March 2025, however, they have reportedly reconciled. They share two children, Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 13.

Dance also confirmed that planned to continue working, noting that he was returning to Euphoria as the hit HBO series began filming its third season.
