It’s still the middle of August, which is the time of year fall arrives in coffee shops and grocery stores across the country. Ready or not, pumpkin spice everything is on its way and now apparently that includes the canned food aisle.
There are always surprising new products that get pumpkin spice-ified and this year, it’s Spam that has taken on that seasonal flavor. Yes, a limited-edition Pumpkin Spice Spam actually exists. According to the brand, this Spam is still the same pork- and ham-based canned meat, but it’s made with “a blend of seasonal spices including cinnamon, clove, allspice, and nutmeg.” But the real question is: How does it taste?
The daring eaters at “Food and Wine” magazine tried it and one said, “it’s somewhat of an acquired taste and one that I’ve generally not acquired.” Samplers say it would work well as a breakfast food, slathered in maple syrup, like you’d do with sausage. If you’re already a fan of Spam, you’ll get your chance to try this fall flavor beginning September 23rd at walmart.comand spam.com.
