Flooding along the Arkansas River caused the Arkansas Department Of Transportation to close State Highway 60 on May 28th by placing barricades just west of the river as floodwaters rose and covered the road, making it impossible to cross. This closes the Hwy 60 Bridge over the Arkansas River at Toad Suck Lock & Dam. Barricades have also been placed on the east side of the bridge.
The nearest crossing will be Hwy 9 in Morrilton for the time being. The ARDoT says that more closures are expected in the coming days as flood waters continue to rise along the Arkansas River.
